The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn12strbrn500r is a 12 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire rated for general electrical wiring in commercial and residential construction. The conductor is made from bare copper with 19-strand construction for flexibility during pull-through and termination. Insulation is PVC with a nylon jacket, meeting the THHN designation for thermoplastic high heat-resistant nylon-coated wire. The brown color coding supports standard circuit identification on multi-wire branch circuits. This wire is rated at 600 volts and carries a 20-amp current rating across the 60, 75, and 90 degree C temperature ranges in dry applications.
This wire is suited for branch circuit wiring, feeder runs, and control wiring in conduit installations across residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. It is commonly pulled through EMT, rigid metal conduit, PVC conduit, and wireways. The 500-foot spool format supports full branch circuit runs and panel feeder work without mid-run splices. Electricians use brown THHN 12 AWG for the second or third hot leg identification in multi-wire branch circuits and three-phase applications.
Designed for use in conduit or raceway installations where THHN or THWN-2 dual-rated building wire is required per NEC guidelines for branch circuit and feeder wiring.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before making any connections. Wire must be installed in a listed conduit or raceway system — THHN is not rated for direct burial or exposed outdoor use without conduit protection. Verify ampacity derating requirements when bundling multiple current-carrying conductors in a single conduit.
