The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn8strwht500r is a 500-foot reel of 8 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire with white PVC insulation and a nylon jacket. Rated at 600 volts and 90 degrees C (dry), this wire handles up to 55 amps in 90-degree-C-rated applications, 50 amps at 75 degrees C, and 40 amps at 60 degrees C. The 19-strand construction provides flexibility during pull-through in conduit runs. Licensed electricians use this wire for branch circuits, feeder runs, and service entrance wiring in commercial and residential installations where conduit-installed conductors are required.
This wire is suited for use in dry conduit applications including commercial panel feeds, motor circuit wiring, and general-purpose branch circuits. The white insulation color is standard for neutral conductors in many multi-wire installations, though local code and labeling requirements always govern phase and neutral identification. The 500-foot reel quantity is practical for larger rough-in jobs and service upgrades where continuous pull lengths are needed without mid-run splices.
Designed for use as a THHN-rated building wire in conduit installations per NEC Article 310. Suitable for dry locations where THHN wire type is specified.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the current edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before making any connections. Use appropriately sized conduit and verify conduit fill calculations using the 213-mil outer diameter before pulling. Do not use in wet locations unless the installation also qualifies for THWN-rated wire and the wire is specifically rated for that environment.
