The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn500mcmstrblumr is a 500 kcmil stranded copper THHN building wire with blue PVC insulation and a nylon jacket, rated for 600 volts and 90 degrees C in dry environments. Designed for high-ampacity branch circuit and feeder applications, this wire handles up to 380 amps at 75 degrees C or 350 amps at 90 degrees C depending on the termination rating of the connected equipment. Available cut to length, it is sized for industrial panels, commercial switchgear, service entrances, and large mechanical equipment connections. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers of wire at this gauge class.
This wire is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where large feeder runs or high-ampacity branch circuits are required. Typical applications include main distribution panels, motor control centers, large HVAC equipment feeds, and building service conductors. The 37-strand construction improves flexibility for pulling through conduit on longer runs compared to solid or lower-strand-count alternatives. Blue insulation aids in phase identification and circuit color-coding in multi-conductor installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use THHN building wire suitable for installation in conduit, raceways, and cable trays per applicable NEC requirements for 600-volt copper conductors at 500 kcmil.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the panel or service equipment before terminating conductors. Wire of this gauge class requires appropriate lug sizing and torque specifications per the termination manufacturer — consult the equipment nameplate or terminal documentation for rated torque values. Do not exceed the ampacity listed for the lowest-rated termination temperature in the circuit.
