The crayon marks a surface and melts visibly and instantly when the material reaches exactly 194 degrees F (90 degrees C), providing an immediate, calibration-free visual confirmation. Accuracy is rated within plus or minus 1 percent of the Fahrenheit rating and plus or minus 3 percent Celsius. The bullet-tip format allows precise application to workpiece surfaces before or during heating. HVAC techs, pipefitters, welders, and plumbers rely on Tempilstik crayons to confirm preheat and interpass temperatures without the need for contact thermometers or pyrometers.
The TEMPIL 28308 is suited for use on aluminum, ceramic, glass, iron, plastic, stainless steel, and carbon steel surfaces. It is commonly applied in HVAC brazing operations, pipe welding preheat verification, and industrial heat treatment quality control.
