The TELEMECANIQUE SENSORS XS512B1NAL2 is a shielded cylindrical inductive proximity sensor designed for non-contact detection of metallic targets in industrial and commercial control applications. Built into an M12-threaded brass housing, it delivers a 0.08-inch (2 mm) detection distance with a response frequency of 5,000 Hz, making it well-suited for high-speed counting, positioning, and presence-detection tasks. The sensor outputs an NPN normally open (NO) signal over a 3-wire cable connection, operating on 12 to 24 volts DC with a maximum load capacity of 200 milliamps. Licensed electricians and industrial controls technicians are the primary installers of this device.
This sensor is used in residential and commercial automation panels, machine tool controls, conveyor systems, and process equipment where reliable metal-target detection is required. The M12 threaded body allows flush mounting in drilled and tapped brackets or standard M12 sensor mounts. Its IP68 and IP69K ingress protection ratings make it suitable for wet, washdown, and high-pressure cleaning environments. The shock-resistant and vibration-resistant construction supports use on equipment with significant mechanical stress. Operating temperature range spans -13 degrees F to 158 degrees F, covering most indoor industrial environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct installation inductive proximity sensor for M12-mount sensor positions on industrial controls, machine tools, and automated equipment requiring NPN 3-wire output.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified controls technician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements and equipment manufacturer guidelines. De-energize all circuits before wiring or removing the sensor. The 3-wire cable should be routed away from high-voltage conductors to prevent signal interference. Do not exceed the 200 mA maximum load current or operate outside the rated voltage range of 12 to 24 volts DC.
