The TELEMECANIQUE SENSORS XS508B1NAL2 is a cylinder shielded inductive proximity sensor designed for non-contact detection of metallic targets in industrial and commercial automation systems. Built into an M8 stainless steel housing, this sensor delivers a detection distance of 0.06 inches (1.5 mm) and operates on 12 to 24 volts DC. It outputs a normally open (NO) NPN signal over a 3-wire cable connection and supports a response frequency of 5,000 Hz, making it suitable for high-cycle-rate sensing applications. Electrical and automation technicians install this sensor in machine control, conveyor, and positioning systems where compact form factor and reliable cycle performance are required.
This sensor is rated IP67 for dust and water ingress protection, and is certified shock-resistant and vibration-resistant per IEC 60068-2-27 and IEC 60068-2-6 respectively. Its M8x1 threaded body measures 1.3 inches in overall length and 0.31 inches in diameter, allowing installation in tight machine cavities or mounting brackets where space is limited. It is well suited for light-duty industrial sensing on automated equipment, robotics, and process control panels operating in washdown or high-vibration environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit inductive proximity sensor for M8-mount industrial automation and machine control applications requiring a 3-wire NPN NO output on a 12 to 24 volt DC circuit.
Installation is typically performed by licensed electricians or qualified automation technicians. De-energize all circuits and lock out the control panel before wiring or mounting. The M8x1 threaded housing should be installed into a compatible mounting bracket or panel hole and secured to prevent rotation during operation. Follow applicable NEC guidelines and the equipment manufacturer wiring diagram when connecting the 3-wire cable to the control circuit.
