The TBWOODSTB7S178 TB-7S178 is a Sure-Flex Plus Type S flange designed for Size 7 elastomeric sleeve couplings. It features a finished bore of 1-7/8 inches with a bore tolerance of +0.0005 to +0.0015 inches, a 1/2 inch x 1/8 inch keyseat, and a 5/16-18 UNC setscrew. Constructed from high-strength cast iron, this flange delivers continuous torque ratings of 940 in-lb with EPDM or Neoprene sleeves and 2,875 in-lb with Hytrel sleeves. It is rated for operation up to 5,250 RPM and 50 horsepower at 100 RPM. Licensed millwrights, mechanical contractors, and industrial maintenance technicians install this component in power transmission assemblies.
This flange is suited for industrial power transmission applications where flexible shaft coupling is required between a driver and driven component. It fits into systems using EPDM, Neoprene, Hytrel, or Urethane elastomeric sleeves depending on the torque and misalignment requirements of the application. Typical installations include pump drives, compressor drives, conveyor systems, and general industrial equipment. The flange accommodates angular misalignment of up to 1 degree with EPDM or Neoprene sleeves and up to 1/4 degree with Hytrel sleeves, and parallel misalignment up to 7 inches as rated. Angular gap misalignment is 0.081 inches with EPDM or Neoprene and 0.020 inches with Hytrel sleeves.
Designed for use with Size 7 Sure-Flex Plus elastomeric sleeve couplings using EPDM, Neoprene, Hytrel, or Urethane sleeves. Compatible bore range for this coupling size is 0.625 inches minimum to 1.875 inches maximum.
Installation should be performed by a qualified millwright or mechanical technician. Disconnect and lock out all power to the drive system before handling coupling components. The setscrew requires 13 ft-lb of torque to seat properly per the manufacturer specification. Verify shaft and bore alignment within the rated misalignment limits for the sleeve type being used before placing the system in service.
