Product Description

The TB WOODS TB-WE4H158 is a plain bore tire coupling hub designed for WE4-size Dura-Flex tire coupling assemblies. It mounts directly to a keyed shaft and joins to a matching hub via a compatible tire coupling element. The hub is machined from steel with a round keyed bore of 1-5/8 inches, a bore tolerance of +0.0005 to +0.0015 inches, and a hub diameter of 2.6 inches. Rated torque is 550 inch-pounds with a maximum operating speed of 7,500 RPM. The coupling accommodates both angular misalignment up to 4 degrees and parallel misalignment up to 0.0625 inches. No lubrication is required during service life.

This hub is suited for a wide range of industrial drive applications including blowers, compressors, fans, generators, pumps, and motors. It is designed for use in both standard and spacer element assemblies, since the same hub design is shared across both configurations. Power capacity scales with speed: 10 hp at 1,160 RPM, 15 hp at 1,750 RPM, and 31 hp at 3,500 RPM. The operating temperature range of -40 degrees F to 200 degrees F makes it appropriate for demanding environments. The hub is also rated as chemical resistant and oil resistant.

Key Features

  • WE4 coupling size with 1-5/8 inch round keyed bore and 3/8 inch keyway width
  • Rated torque of 550 inch-pounds with a maximum speed of 7,500 RPM
  • Accommodates up to 4 degrees angular misalignment and 0.0625 inches parallel misalignment
  • No lubrication required — reduces maintenance intervals
  • Same hub used for both standard and spacer tire coupling element assemblies
  • Chemical resistant and oil resistant steel construction
  • Set screw positioned over keyway with 1/2 inch-13 thread size

Compatibility

Designed for use with WE4-size Dura-Flex tire coupling elements. Compatible applications include blowers, compressors, fans, generators, pumps, motors, and numerous other industrial drive systems using keyed shaft connections.

Installation Notes

Installation is typically performed by a licensed millwright or mechanical technician. De-energize and lock out the drive system completely before mounting or removing coupling hubs. Verify shaft diameter and keyway dimensions match the bore and keyway specifications before pressing the hub onto the shaft. Torque the set screw over the keyway per the coupling manufacturer's published guidelines; do not substitute fasteners outside the specified 1/2 inch-13 thread size.
