The TB WOODS TB-7S78 is a finished bore sleeve coupling flange designed for direct mounting onto keyed shafts in close-coupled drive applications. With a coupling size of 7 and an outside diameter of 4.625 inches, this cast iron flange hub pairs with a matched sleeve insert to transmit torque while accommodating angular and parallel misalignment. It is rated to a maximum speed of 5,250 RPM and ships with two set screws positioned one over the keyseat and one at 90 degrees for secure shaft retention. Licensed mechanics and millwrights install this component in industrial and commercial drive trains where reliable power transmission and vibration control are required.
This flange is suited for use on compressors, conveyors, motors, and pumps in both light industrial and commercial mechanical systems. Its 4-way flexing action absorbs shock, misalignment, and end float, making it a practical choice for drive applications where shaft alignment cannot always be held to tight tolerances. The inch-measurement bore of 7/8 inch with a bore tolerance of plus 0.0005 to plus 0.0015 inches ensures a controlled fit on standard keyed shafts. Chemical and oil resistance properties extend service life in environments where fluid exposure is common.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit sleeve coupling flange for coupling size 7 keyed shaft drive assemblies requiring inch-measurement components. Compatible applications include compressors, conveyors, motors, and pumps as specified by TB WOODS for this coupling series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified millwright or mechanical technician. Disconnect and lock out all power to the drive system before mounting or removing coupling components in accordance with applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shaft and bore surfaces are clean and free of burrs before pressing the flange into position, and confirm keyway alignment before tightening set screws. Do not exceed the rated maximum speed of 5,250 RPM during operation.
