The TB WOODS TB-6J is a one-piece solid EPDM sleeve coupling insert designed to join two compatible coupling flanges and complete a sleeve coupling assembly. Rated for a maximum speed of 6,000 RPM and a torque capacity of 585 in-lb, this insert handles the rotational and mechanical demands of industrial drive applications. The EPDM elastomer construction provides chemical and oil resistance while the four-way flexing action accommodates angular misalignment up to 1 degree and parallel misalignment up to 0.015 inches. Licensed industrial mechanics and millwrights install this component as part of a complete sleeve coupling system on motors, pumps, blowers, compressors, conveyors, and mixers.
This insert is suited for light to medium industrial drive systems where shaft misalignment, shock loads, and vibration damping are required. It operates across a wide temperature range of -30 degrees F to 275 degrees F, making it appropriate for both indoor and outdoor equipment installations. Rated horsepower output is 17 hp at 1,800 RPM and 33 hp at 3,600 RPM, covering the speed ranges typical of most motor-driven rotating equipment in commercial and industrial settings.
Designed for use with size 6 sleeve coupling flanges in standard sleeve coupling systems. Compatible applications include blowers, compressors, conveyors, mixers, motors, and pumps requiring angular and parallel misalignment correction.
Installation is performed by industrial mechanics or millwrights as part of a sleeve coupling assembly. De-energize and lock out the drive motor before servicing any coupling components per OSHA lockout/tagout requirements. Verify that both mating coupling flanges are the correct size 6 designation before installing the insert. Inspect the insert for tears, wear, or compression set during routine maintenance intervals.
