The TB WOODS TB-5J is a Size 5 Sure-Flex Plus EPDM elastomeric coupling sleeve used in power transmission applications across industrial and commercial machinery. The one-piece solid design provides flexibility, shock absorption, and torsional vibration dampening between driver and driven equipment. Rated for 312 in-lb of torque and a maximum speed of 7600 RPM, this sleeve handles a broad range of motor and load combinations. The EPDM compound supports an operating temperature range of -30 degrees F to 275 degrees F, making it suitable for environments with wide thermal variation. Licensed mechanical and industrial technicians install this component as part of a flanged elastomeric coupling assembly.
The TB-5J sleeve is intended for use in Size 5 elastomeric coupling assemblies and mates with Type J and JE flanges. Compatible bore sizes range from 0.5 inches to 1.25 inches, accommodating a variety of shaft configurations. Typical applications include pumps, compressors, conveyors, fans, and general-purpose industrial drives where misalignment compensation and vibration isolation are required. The sleeve accepts up to 1 degree of angular misalignment and up to 0.015 inches of parallel misalignment, providing reliable performance in installations where perfect shaft alignment is difficult to achieve.
Designed for use with Type J and JE flanges in Size 5 TB Woods Sure-Flex elastomeric coupling assemblies. Compatible shaft bore sizes range from 0.5 inches to 1.25 inches.
Installation is typically performed by a qualified mechanical technician or millwright. Disconnect and lock out all power to the drive system before removing or installing the sleeve. Inspect mating flanges for wear, corrosion, or damage before seating the new sleeve. Verify shaft alignment is within the published angular and parallel misalignment limits before returning the drive to service.
