The TACO TACO-49-125T-1 is a bronze air separator from the 4900 Series, designed to remove entrained air and dirt from closed-loop hydronic heating systems. By continuously purging air from the system, it prevents reduced heat transfer, pipe corrosion, pump cavitation, increased energy consumption, and noise caused by circulating air pockets. Rated to 150 psi and 240 degrees F, it handles the thermal demands of residential and light commercial hydronic applications. Connections are 1-1/4 inch FNPT x FNPT for straightforward threaded installation. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers of this component.
The TACO-49-125T-1 is suited for forced hot water heating systems, including single-zone and multi-zone hydronic loops. It is installed on the supply side of the heating loop, typically near the boiler outlet where water temperature is highest and air release is most effective. The 4900 Series is a standard choice for new hydronic system installations as well as retrofit projects where persistent air problems are degrading system performance or causing noise complaints.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for residential and light commercial hydronic heating systems using threaded pipe connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician. Shut down the boiler and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any hydronic components. Apply appropriate thread sealant to all FNPT connections and verify no leaks under pressure before returning the system to service. Consult local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) for requirements governing pressure ratings and system modifications.
