The SUPERIOR ESSEX K2-199-25 is a Category 5e (Cat5e) unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable rated for riser (CMR) applications, supplied in a 1000-foot length with a blue jacket-free construction. Designed for in-wall and between-floor data and voice network runs, it delivers the 100 MHz bandwidth performance required by Cat5e standards. Without an outer jacket, this cable is suited for installations where weight and diameter reduction matter or where termination into patch panels and keystone jacks demands a more flexible cable body. Licensed electricians and low-voltage technicians are the primary installers.
This cable is used in commercial and residential structured wiring installations where vertical backbone runs between floors require a riser-rated cable to meet building and fire code requirements. Typical applications include horizontal and vertical in-wall network drops, telephone distribution, and low-voltage data backbone runs in multi-story buildings. The 1000-foot pull box format suits new construction and large retrofit projects where continuous runs minimize connection points.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation cable for Cat5e-rated patch panels, keystone jacks, and modular plugs in riser-rated structured wiring systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage technician or electrician in accordance with NEC Article 800 requirements for communications riser cable (CMR). De-energize any adjacent circuits before pulling cable through conduit or open plenum paths. Avoid sharp bends tighter than the minimum bend radius for Cat5e cable and do not exceed the cable pull tension rating to prevent pair untwisting or conductor damage. Terminate to Cat5e-rated hardware only to maintain channel performance.
