The SUPERIOR ESSEX F402-004U32-6991 is a 4-fiber OM4 multimode plenum-rated fiber optic cable designed for high-speed data and network infrastructure installations in commercial and institutional buildings. Rated OFNP (Optical Fiber Nonconductive Plenum), this cable meets the fire and smoke requirements for routing through air-handling plenum spaces without the use of conduit. The OM4 50-micron glass fiber supports high-bandwidth applications including 10 Gigabit, 40 Gigabit, and 100 Gigabit Ethernet over standard multimode distances. The yellow jacket provides visual identification in the field. Licensed low-voltage and data cabling contractors are the primary installers for this product.
This cable is suited for horizontal and backbone runs in commercial office buildings, data centers, healthcare facilities, educational campuses, and industrial facilities where plenum air-handling space is present. Its 4-fiber count makes it appropriate for point-to-point links, small distribution runs, and trunking applications where a compact, low-fiber-count plenum cable is required. Installation is performed per NEC Article 770 governing optical fiber cables in plenum-rated pathways.
Designed as an OEM-style plenum multimode fiber optic cable for use with standard OM4-compatible fiber optic connectors, patch panels, and network switching equipment in commercial low-voltage cabling systems.
Installation must be performed by a qualified low-voltage or fiber optic cabling contractor in accordance with NEC Article 770 and applicable local codes. De-energize any adjacent electrical systems and follow building management protocols before running cable through plenum spaces. Observe minimum bend radius requirements during pulling and routing to avoid microbend loss or fiber damage. Fiber end-faces must be properly cleaved and polished or factory-terminated connectors used to ensure signal integrity.
