The SUPERIOR ESSEX 77-246-DA is a Category 6 riser-rated (CMR) unshielded twisted pair ethernet cable supplied in a 1000-foot pull box. Constructed with 23 AWG conductors arranged in four pairs, this cable is designed to support high-speed data network installations in commercial and residential buildings. The CMR fire rating qualifies it for installation in building riser pathways between floors, meeting the vertical flame-spread requirements of the National Electrical Code. The orange jacket provides visual identification on the job site and within wiring closets. Licensed data network installers and low-voltage technicians are the primary installers of this product.
This cable is suited for structured wiring projects in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, and multi-unit residential construction. It supports Gigabit Ethernet and other high-bandwidth applications that require Cat 6 performance. The 1000-foot box format is standard for bulk cable runs pulled through conduit, cable trays, or open plenum pathways where a riser-rated product is code-appropriate. It is well-suited for horizontal and riser backbone runs within telecommunications rooms and equipment closets.
Designed as an OEM-style bulk cable for use with standard Cat 6 keystone jacks, patch panels, and modular plugs that accept 23 AWG UTP conductors in riser-rated structured cabling systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage technician or data cabling contractor in accordance with ANSI/TIA-568 structured cabling standards and NEC Article 800. Do not exceed the cable bend radius or pull tension limits specified for Cat 6 cable, as doing so can degrade signal performance. Terminate all pairs using a 110-style punch-down tool or compatible crimp tool rated for Cat 6. Verify that the CMR rating is appropriate for the pathway type before installation, as plenum-rated (CMP) cable is required in air-handling spaces.
