The SUPERIOR ESSEX 77-240-9A is a CAT6 riser-rated (CMR) network cable designed for structured cabling installations in commercial and residential buildings. Built with four unshielded twisted pairs at 23 AWG, this cable supports Gigabit Ethernet and 10GBase-T applications over standard horizontal and backbone runs. The riser (CMR) rating qualifies it for vertical shaft and floor-to-floor runs where fire propagation resistance is required by code. Each reel contains 1000 feet of cable, making it a practical pull quantity for new construction wiring and large-scale network infrastructure projects. Licensed low-voltage technicians and data cabling contractors are the primary installers for this product.
This cable is suited for structured cabling backbones in multi-story office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, and residential multi-family construction. It supports horizontal runs to workstation outlets, patch panels, and network closets. The 23 AWG conductor gauge meets the performance requirements of TIA-568 CAT6 standards and supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. A 1000-foot reel quantity is standard for rough-in cabling during new construction or tenant improvement work where large continuous runs are needed.
Designed as a standard CMR-rated CAT6 replacement or new-install cable compatible with RJ45 keystone jacks, patch panels, and modular connectors rated for CAT6 23 AWG solid conductor terminations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or data cabling contractor following NEC Article 800 requirements for communications wiring. De-energize any adjacent power circuits and observe minimum bend radius guidelines to avoid degrading cable performance during pulls. Do not exceed the cable manufacturer recommended pull tension, and avoid running parallel to high-voltage conductors without adequate separation. Terminate using 110-style punch-down or RJ45 tooling rated for 23 AWG solid conductors.
