The SUPERIOR ESSEX 6S-220-EB is a CAT6A plenum-rated twisted-pair data cable designed for high-speed structured wiring installations in commercial and institutional buildings. Built to Category 6A specifications, it supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) at frequencies up to 500 MHz over copper. The plenum jacket rating makes it code-compliant for installation in air-handling spaces such as raised-access floors and open ceiling plenums where standard PVC-jacketed cable is not permitted. The cable ships on a 1000-foot reel in a black jacket, suitable for large pulls in new construction or retrofit projects.
This cable is used in horizontal structured cabling runs in commercial offices, healthcare facilities, education campuses, and data centers. It is appropriate for runs from the telecommunications room to the work area outlet. The 4-pair, 23 AWG construction meets the demands of Power over Ethernet (PoE) and PoE+ applications. Low-voltage cabling contractors and licensed electricians performing data infrastructure work are the primary installers of this product.
Designed as an OEM-style structured wiring solution compatible with standard CAT6A keystone jacks, patch panels, and modular plugs that terminate 23 AWG solid conductor cable in compliance with TIA-568.2-D channel and permanent-link specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage contractor or electrician in accordance with NEC Article 800 and applicable local codes. Do not exceed the minimum bend radius or maximum pulling tension specified for the cable diameter, as doing so can degrade insertion loss and return loss performance. Avoid running data cable parallel to and in close proximity to high-voltage power conductors without maintaining proper separation distances per NEC guidelines. Terminate all pairs using a CAT6A-rated punch-down or jack tool to maintain pair twist as close to the termination point as possible.
