The SUPERIOR ESSEX 6F-246-7A is a Category 6A shielded twisted-pair (SCTP) riser-rated data cable designed for structured cabling installations in commercial and residential buildings. Built to 23 AWG conductor sizing and carrying a CMR (Communications Multipurpose Cable, Riser) flame rating, this cable supports high-speed network runs through vertical shafts, between floors, and in other riser pathways where building codes require flame-retardant materials. The polyurethane jacket provides durability in demanding pull environments. It ships in a 1,000-foot pull box for clean, tangle-free installation pulls.
This cable is suited for horizontal and backbone structured cabling projects where Cat6a performance and shielded construction are specified. The SCTP design helps suppress alien crosstalk and electromagnetic interference, making it a common choice for high-density data centers, enterprise office buildouts, healthcare facilities, and campus backbone runs. Licensed low-voltage cabling contractors and network infrastructure technicians are the primary installers. The 1,000-foot reel format supports long continuous runs without mid-run splices.
Designed as a CMR-rated Cat6a riser cable for use in standard 568-compliant structured cabling systems terminated with Cat6a-rated jacks, patch panels, and shielded connectors.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or data cabling contractor in accordance with ANSI/TIA-568 structured cabling standards and applicable NEC riser wiring requirements. De-energize any adjacent active circuits before pulling cable through shared pathways. Maintain minimum bend radius throughout the run and avoid kinking the cable, which can degrade shielded-pair geometry and degrade channel performance. Terminate both ends with Cat6a-rated shielded connectors and verify proper shield continuity and grounding at the patch panel.
