The SUPERIOR ESSEX 6F-246-2A is a Category 6A riser-rated shielded twisted pair network cable designed for structured cabling installations in commercial and residential buildings. Built to Cat6a performance standards, this cable supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet at frequencies up to 500 MHz. The 23 AWG, 4-pair construction uses a screened twisted pair (SCTP) shielding configuration to reduce alien crosstalk and electromagnetic interference. Each reel contains 1000 feet of blue-jacketed cable rated CMR for vertical riser runs between floors. Low-voltage network installers and data cabling contractors are the primary trade for this product.
This cable is suited for horizontal and riser backbone runs in commercial office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, and data centers where 10GBase-T performance is required. The CMR rating qualifies it for installation inside building risers and plenum-free vertical pathways. The SCTP shield provides added noise rejection in electrically noisy environments such as mechanical rooms or areas with dense power conduit. It ships on a 1000-foot reel packaged as a single unit for straightforward pull-through installations.
Designed as an OEM-style structured cabling component for Cat6a channel installations using standard RJ45 termination hardware, Cat6a patch panels, and Cat6a keystone jacks.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage cabling contractor following ANSI/TIA-568 structured cabling standards and applicable NEC Article 800 requirements. Maintain the manufacturer-specified minimum bend radius during pulls to avoid degrading cable geometry and pair geometry. The SCTP drain wire must be properly bonded to a grounded shield termination at patch panels or outlets to realize the shielding benefit. Do not exceed the maximum pulling tension rated for the cable during fish-tape or conduit pull installations.
