The SUPERIOR ESSEX 66-246-6B is a Category 6 Plus (C6+) plenum-rated data cable designed for structured cabling installations in commercial and institutional buildings. This four-pair, 23 AWG unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable meets the requirements for high-performance horizontal runs in air-handling spaces where plenum-rated jacketing is required by fire code. The yellow jacket aids in visual identification during installation and future maintenance. It is supplied on a 1,000-foot pull box for straightforward deployment in large-scale data cabling projects. Licensed electricians and low-voltage cabling technicians are the primary installers.
This cable is suited for horizontal runs in commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, educational campuses, and data centers where plenum-rated cabling is mandated by the National Electrical Code (NEC) for air-handling spaces. The C6+ designation indicates performance characteristics that exceed standard Category 6 specifications, supporting high-bandwidth network infrastructure. It is appropriate for 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T, and 10GBASE-T applications over appropriate distances.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-specification cable compatible with Category 6 Plus structured cabling systems using RJ-45 keystone jacks, patch panels, and modular plugs rated for Cat6 or higher performance.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or registered low-voltage cabling contractor in accordance with NEC Article 800 and applicable local codes. Do not exceed the cable's minimum bend radius or maximum pulling tension during installation, as deformation of the pairs can degrade transmission performance. In plenum spaces, verify that all associated hardware including jacks, patch panels, and conduit fittings also carry the appropriate plenum rating. Terminate both ends using a standard 568-A or 568-B wiring scheme as specified by the project design.
