The SUMITOMO U101624 is a right-hand MCLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative-rake metal cutting operations. It accepts CNMG 432 inserts secured by a clamp and pin holding method, providing rigid, repeatable insert positioning during facing, milling, and turning applications. The shank measures 3/4 inches wide by 3/4 inches tall with an overall length of 4.5 inches. A -5 degree rake angle and right-hand cutting direction make this holder suited for aggressive material removal on a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers and users of this toolholder.
This toolholder is built for general-purpose turning center and lathe applications across a wide range of workpiece materials including ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, stainless, heat-resistant alloys, and cast materials. The universal primary workpiece material rating corresponds to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It fits the Multi-Option series and is well-suited for production environments where consistent insert changeover speed and rigidity are required. The head length is 1.0 inch and the back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension is 1.25 inches, providing predictable tool offset for programmed cuts.
Designed to accept CNMG 432 inserts with compatible insert size code CN43 and an inscribed circle of 1/2 inch. Suitable for use across universal workpiece material classifications H, K, M, N, P, and S.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts or mounting the toolholder, power down and lock out the machine per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank fully into the tool block or turret to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before torquing the clamping fasteners. Inspect the insert seat and locating pin for debris or wear before seating a new CNMG 432 insert.
