The SUMITOMO U101155 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built from solid carbide with a coated finish, this bit delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required when drilling into cast iron and steel. It features a 135-degree split-point angle that reduces walking and minimizes thrust force at entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 1.9685 inches in length and fits standard drill chucks without adapters. At 3.6614 inches overall length and 0.397 inches in diameter, it is suited for precision work where dimensional accuracy and repeatability are critical. Machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production floor operators are the primary users of this tool.
This drill bit is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual milling setups where short, rigid tooling is preferred. The screw machine length profile keeps deflection low and improves hole straightness in materials such as cast iron and steel. The MDW-GS series uses a tapered web configuration to improve chip evacuation and reduce heat buildup at the cutting zone. It is sold individually and is appropriate for production drilling, prototype work, and maintenance machining environments where solid carbide tooling is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style screw machine length drill bit suitable for use in CNC machining centers and drill press setups requiring solid carbide tooling in the 0.3500 to 0.4000 inch diameter range.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance before cutting. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in setups with excessive vibration or interrupted cuts unless the application specifically supports it. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing or inspecting tooling.
