The SUMITOMO U101095 is a jobber-length drill bit engineered for precision metal cutting in demanding production environments. Built from solid carbide and finished with a dual TiAlCr and TiSi coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance when drilling cast iron and steel. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust and walking at entry. At 3.2677 inches overall length with a 1.6929-inch flute length, it fits standard jobber-length toolholders. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.2812 inches diameter seats securely in conventional drill chucks and collets. This bit is part of Sumitomo's MDW-GS series and carries an h8 diameter tolerance for repeatable, close-tolerance holes.
The U101095 is sized at 7.14 mm (0.2810 inches) and targets production machining of cast iron and steel workpieces. The 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio suits moderate-depth holes in both ferrous and gray iron applications. It is well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where consistent hole quality in metal components is required. The tapered web configuration aids chip evacuation and maintains rigidity through the cut. No coolant-through capability means this bit relies on flood coolant or cutting fluid applied externally at the workpiece.
Designed for metal cutting applications in cast iron and steel workpieces. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.2812-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Sized within the MDW-GS series range of 7.00 mm to 8.00 mm (0.2500 to 0.3000 inches).
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Secure the shank to the full grip depth of the chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or flood coolant externally, as this bit does not have coolant-through capability.
