The SUMITOMO U100007 is a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) turning insert designed for precision machining of hard and abrasive workpiece materials. It carries the ANSI designation 2NCDNGA433 and the ISO code 2NC-DNGA150412. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a TiN coating applied via PVD process, and a negative rake geometry. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, with a corner radius of 0.0469 inches (3/64 inches) and an insert thickness of 0.1875 inches (3/16 inches). Two cutting edges are provided per insert. It is intended for installation by machinists and toolroom technicians in turning center or lathe applications.
This insert is suited for turning cast iron, superalloys, and similarly hard or abrasive materials in both production and job-shop environments. The BNC300 grade and PVD TiN coating are optimized for demanding cutting conditions where tool life and edge integrity are critical. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with a range of standard DNGA-style toolholders. The chip breaker designation is A, and the maximum depth of cut is 0.0150 inches. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning where consistent surface quality and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed for use in DNGA-style clamp and pin toolholders accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle. Compatible with systems requiring ANSI code 2NCDNGA433 or ISO code 2NC-DNGA150412 inserts. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes cast iron and superalloys per material codes H, K, and S.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians in a CNC lathe or manual turning center. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Secure the insert using the clamp and pin method specified for the toolholder; do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specification. Verify insert seating and edge condition before resuming cutting operations.
