The SUMITOMO 5VHY197 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit engineered for demanding metal cutting applications. It features a 135-degree split point, dual TiAlCr and TiSi coating layers, and an 8.5 mm cutting diameter with a 9.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration promote chip evacuation and reduce axial thrust in deep-hole drilling. Coolant-through capability allows internal delivery of cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, improving tool life and hole quality in difficult materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in production environments rely on this geometry for consistent, repeatable results across a range of ferrous workpiece materials.
The 5VHY197 is suited for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and steel in both manual and CNC machining setups. With an overall length of 127.00 mm and a flute length of 68.00 mm, the bit provides adequate reach for standard through-hole and blind-hole operations in typical fixture depths.
