The SUMITOMO 1N6C007 is a solid carbide CVD-coated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation CCGT32.51MESI and ISO code CCGT09T304MN-SI, both widely referenced by machinists when specifying tooling. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a 7-degree relief angle, which together reduce cutting forces and improve surface finish on difficult materials. The AC6030M grade coating provides the wear resistance and thermal stability needed for consistent performance at elevated cutting speeds. This insert is specified and installed by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is engineered primarily for turning stainless steel (ISO material code M), making it well suited for medical, food processing, aerospace, and general industrial components where work-hardening and built-up edge are common challenges. The MESI chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium finishing passes on stainless alloys. It seats into standard screw-clamp toolholders accepting the CC insert series and is a direct drop-in for any holder dimensioned to the CCGT32.51 standard. Applications include external turning, facing, and light profiling where tight tolerances and fine surface finish are required.
Designed as a drop-in replacement for screw-clamp CC-series toolholders accepting CCGT32.51 geometry inserts, as specified by ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. Compatible holders must accept a 0.1732-inch hole diameter for the clamping screw.
This insert is installed by machinists or tooling technicians following standard lathe lockout and de-energization procedures before any toolholder change. Use the correct torque wrench or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for debris or wear before seating the new insert. Index or replace the insert at the first sign of chipping, excessive wear, or degraded surface finish on the workpiece.
