The SUMITOMO 1AJV064 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for precision drilling applications in metal cutting and machining operations. Featuring the WDXT05G insert style with a DL1500 manufacturer grade and DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating, this insert delivers consistent cutting performance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The parallelogram insert shape measures 0.1969 inches in inscribed circle diameter with a thickness of 0.0984 inches and a corner radius of 0.0157 inches. It carries a G-style chipbreaker geometry. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible indexable drill bodies as a replacement cutting element.
This insert is suited for indexable drilling operations in both production and job-shop environments. The DL1500 grade with DLC coating is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, spanning material codes K, M, N, P, and S — covering cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. The WDXT05G geometry and G chipbreaker are optimized for chip control and stable tool life across these material groups. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers and drill presses where indexable tooling systems are in use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement indexable drill insert for compatible SUMITOMO indexable drill bodies accepting the WDXT insert style with a 05 insert size code. Verify tool body specifications before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with indexable tooling systems. Ensure the spindle is locked and the machine is fully powered down before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer when seating and torquing the insert clamp screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for debris, damage, or wear before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout control.
