The SUMITOMO 1AHD022 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for precision drilling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Manufactured in the WDXT insert style with an ACK300 grade coating applied via PVD process, this insert delivers consistent performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The parallelogram body measures 0.378 inches inscribed circle and 0.1575 inches thick, with a 0.0315-inch corner radius that supports controlled chip formation. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. The coated carbide construction provides wear resistance suited to high-volume drilling cycles on CNC and manual drill platforms.
This insert is intended for use in indexable drill tooling systems that accept the WDXT09 insert seat geometry. It is suited to universal workpiece material applications, with primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working in production, job-shop, or maintenance environments install these inserts as direct replacements when edge wear or chipping requires rotation or swap-out. The G chipbreaker geometry assists with chip control during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement indexable drill insert for tooling systems accepting WDXT09 insert geometry. No additional specific compatible model numbers or system families were identified in the available product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating any indexable insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the drill body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque — do not over-torque the insert screw, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
