The SUMITOMO 1AHD021 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drill bodies requiring WDXT-style inserts. Manufactured in the ACK300 grade with a PVD coating process, this insert delivers wear resistance and cutting performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a parallelogram shape with a 0.2953-inch inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.1378 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0236 inches. The G chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during drilling operations. Cutting direction is right hand. This insert is used by machinists and tooling professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for indexable drilling applications across universal workpiece material categories, including cast iron, steel, non-ferrous metals, stainless, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by material codes K, M, N, P, and S. It fits WDXT07-series insert seats in compatible indexable drill bodies. The insert size code is 07, with an insert size designation of 073506. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling where consistent insert geometry and coating durability are required across medium to high production volumes.
Designed for use in indexable drill bodies that accept WDXT07-style insert seats. Compatible with workpiece materials across universal categories K, M, N, P, and S. Verify insert pocket geometry and clamping screw specifications against the drill body manufacturer documentation before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-recommended torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the insert pocket — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, chips, or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and accurate cutting geometry.
