The SUMITOMO 1AHB070 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert in the WDXT style, designed for use in indexable drilling applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. This insert carries the ACP300 manufacturer grade with a PVD coating process, delivering wear resistance suited for production drilling environments. The parallelogram-shaped insert features a 0.5984-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0472-inch corner radius, with the G chipbreaker geometry promoting efficient chip evacuation. It is installed and replaced by machinists and tool-room technicians working with indexable drill bodies that accept this insert style.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material application, covering material grades C5, C5A, and C6, with primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S. That range encompasses cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant super alloys. It is appropriate for use in both production machining and job-shop drilling operations where consistent hole quality and insert interchangeability are priorities. The right-hand cutting direction and WDXT insert style define the compatible drill body geometry required for proper seating.
Designed as a replacement insert for indexable drill bodies that accept the WDXT style with insert size code 15 and a parallelogram seating geometry. Confirm drill body pocket specifications against the 0.5984-inch inscribed circle and 0.2362-inch thickness before ordering.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine de-energized and the spindle fully stopped before any insert handling. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified by the drill body manufacturer to seat the insert; do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. This product has a minimum order quantity of 10 units; plan inventory accordingly to maintain uninterrupted tooling availability.
