The SUMITOMO 19T6WFE is a WNMG-style carbide turning insert designed for precision single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with TiAlSiN via a PVD process under Sumitomo's proprietary Absotech Bronze designation, this insert is engineered for cutting superalloy workpiece materials where heat resistance and edge integrity are critical. It carries a negative rake geometry with a 16-degree rake angle and a neutral hand orientation. The EEX chip breaker controls chip flow during demanding cuts. Insert size code is 332, with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, power generation, and high-temp alloy machining are the primary installers of this insert grade.
This insert is rated for superalloy cutting applications, corresponding to ISO material code S and Sumitomo material grade S20. The AC5025S grade within the AC5000S series is selected for difficult-to-machine materials including nickel-based, cobalt-based, and titanium alloys where tool life and consistent edge performance are priorities. It is suited for finishing to medium roughing passes depending on feed and depth-of-cut parameters set by the operator.
Designed for use in WNMG 332 toolholders that accept screw-lock (hole-type) inserts with a 0.1500-inch hole diameter. Confirmed ISO designation WNMG060408N-EX. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and seating surface condition before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp screw threads for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
