The SUMITOMO 19T6CGW is a solid carbide turning insert engineered for high-performance metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Carrying the ANSI designation VNMG331EEF and ISO code VNMG160404N-EF, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V) with a neutral cutting direction and a negative rake angle of 20 degrees. The AC5025S grade substrate is coated with TiAlSiN via a PVD process under Sumitomo's Absotech Bronze proprietary coating designation. The EEF chip breaker geometry is optimized for the tighter chip control demands of superalloy machining. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct screw-lock replacement in compatible toolholders.
This insert is primarily intended for turning superalloy workpiece materials, classified under Material Grade S20 and Primary Workpiece Material Code S. Typical applications include roughing and finishing passes on nickel-based alloys, titanium, and other difficult-to-machine high-temperature alloys in aerospace, energy, and industrial manufacturing environments. The screw-holding method suits standard VNMG-style toolholders used in production turning operations. The neutral hand designation makes it usable in both right-hand and left-hand cutting configurations depending on toolholder orientation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for VNMG-style screw-lock toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick diamond insert with ANSI code VNMG331EEF. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, power down the machine and allow all moving components to come to a complete stop. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to proper engagement — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure accurate indexing.
