The SUMITOMO 19T6AFK is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for high-performance metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the AC5025S manufacturer grade and features a TiAlSiN coating applied via PVD process, marketed under the Absotech Bronze proprietary coating designation. This coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited to demanding cutting conditions. The insert has a negative rake angle, a neutral hand orientation, an 80-degree diamond shape, and a 1/16 inch corner radius. It belongs to the AC5000S series and is held in place by a screw-clamp toolholder. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and index this insert as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert is engineered with superalloy as its primary workpiece material, making it appropriate for turning nickel-based alloys, titanium, and similar difficult-to-machine materials common in aerospace, power generation, and defense applications. The EMU chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at the cutting parameters typical for these materials. It conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, and its ISO code is CNMG120416N-MU, which allows direct cross-reference with toolholder catalogs specifying that pocket geometry.
Designed for use in screw-clamp toolholders accepting CNMG 434 pocket geometry per ANSI and ISO 13399 specifications. Primary workpiece material classification is superalloy (ISO material code S), material grade S20.
This insert is installed and indexed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard turning center lockout and toolholder service procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert. Always verify insert orientation and confirm the correct cutting edge is engaged before resuming machine operation.
