The SUMITOMO 19T5CGX is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on non-ferrous metals and superalloys. It carries a TiAlSiN coating applied via PVD process under the proprietary Absotech Bronze designation, delivering thermal resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V-profile), a neutral hand orientation, and an EEF chip breaker geometry optimized for fine finishing passes. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313 inch corner radius, it suits toolholders requiring a VNMG 332 form factor. Installation is by screw-clamp method. This insert is part of the AC5000S series and carries grade AC5015S.
This insert is suited for turning centers and CNC lathes running non-ferrous workpiece materials such as aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and high-temperature superalloys. The EEF chip breaker geometry targets finishing and light semi-finishing cuts where surface finish and dimensional control are priorities. The negative rake and zero-degree relief angle are consistent with strong, stable edge performance in demanding superalloy applications. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers familiar with VNMG tooling systems will find the VNMG160408N-EF ISO designation useful for program and tooling library reference.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for VNMG 332 screw-clamp toolholders. ISO designation VNMG160408N-EF and ANSI designation VNMG332EEF confirm fitment in any toolholder accepting that form factor. Primary workpiece materials are non-ferrous metals and superalloys per manufacturer classification codes N and S.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing any insert. Use the correct torque wrench or insert key specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamp screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excess clamp force. Confirm insert seating and chip breaker orientation before resuming cutting operations.
