Product Description

The SUMITOMO 19T5BPV is a VBMT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the AC5015S grade within the AC5000S series, this insert features a TiAlSiN coating applied via PVD process under the proprietary Absotech Bronze designation. The diamond-shaped insert carries a 35-degree included angle, a 0.0156-inch corner radius, and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. The ESU chip breaker geometry paired with an 8-degree rake angle promotes efficient chip control during turning operations. This insert is intended for installation and use by machinists and tooling technicians working with CNC turning equipment.

The 19T5BPV is engineered primarily for turning powdered metal workpiece materials, classified under primary workpiece material code S. The AC5015S grade with TiAlSiN PVD coating is suited for demanding finishing and semi-finishing cuts where wear resistance and edge stability are required. The neutral hand designation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand toolholders that accept VBMT-style inserts. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, with an ISO equivalent code of VBMT160404N-SU, making it straightforward to cross-reference with ISO-dimensioned toolholders.

Key Features

  • AC5015S carbide grade with TiAlSiN PVD Absotech Bronze coating for wear resistance on powdered metal
  • ESU chip breaker geometry with 8-degree positive rake for controlled chip evacuation
  • 35-degree diamond insert shape (V code) with 5-degree relief angle and clearance code B
  • 0.0156-inch corner radius for finishing and semi-finishing applications
  • Screw-clamping insert holding method with 0.1732-inch hole diameter
  • Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards; ISO equivalent VBMT160404N-SU

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for VBMT-style screw-lock turning toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick diamond insert per ANSI and ISO 13399 dimensional standards.

Installation Notes

This insert is installed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with CNC turning toolholder systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw to the correct seating torque per that toolholder's documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and edge repeatability.
