The SUMITOMO 19T5APK is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG style, designed for precision single-point turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the manufacturer grade AC5015S from the AC5000S series, this insert features a TiAlSiN PVD coating marketed under the proprietary designation Absotech Bronze. The coating provides high heat resistance and wear resistance suited to demanding cutting conditions. The insert has a neutral cutting hand, a negative rake geometry, and an ESU chip breaker configuration. With a 0.6102-inch insert length and a 0.0156-inch corner radius, it is built for controlled chip formation and consistent surface finish in production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for turning applications on powdered metal workpiece materials, corresponding to primary material code S. The DNMG 431 geometry with an ESU chip breaker suits moderate to finishing-range cuts where chip control on difficult materials is a priority. The 55-degree diamond insert shape and negative rake provide edge strength for interrupted or continuous cuts. It is held in place by screw clamping, consistent with DNMG-style toolholders used across common turning centers in job shop and production machining environments.
Designed for use in DNMG-style screw-clamp toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert. Conforms to ANSI code DNMG431ESU and ISO code DNMG150404N-SU per ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. Optimized for turning powdered metal workpiece materials at material grade S10.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing any insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw and follow the toolholder manufacturer's seating procedure to ensure full pocket contact. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
