The SUMITOMO 19T5APA is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation CNMG432ESU and ISO code CNMG120408N-SU, conforming to both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake angle of 13 degrees and a neutral cutting direction. The AC5015S grade substrate is finished with a TiAlSiN coating applied via PVD process under the Absotech Bronze proprietary designation, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability. The ESU chip breaker geometry and 0.0313-inch corner radius make it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-setup technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for turning non-ferrous metals and superalloys, corresponding to primary workpiece material codes N and S. Typical applications include external and internal turning operations where controlled chip formation and consistent surface finish are required. The screw-holding method (insert holding code) ensures secure clamping in compatible toolholders. It fits standard CNMG-style insert pockets with the M tolerance and N clearance codes. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
