The SUMITOMO 19T4337 is a WNMG432EGU-style solid carbide turning insert coated with Sumitomo's proprietary Absotech Platinum finish applied via CVD process. Carrying the AC8015P grade designation, this insert is engineered for negative-rake turning operations on steel workpieces. It features an 80-degree trigon (W) insert shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a 3/16-inch insert thickness. The EGU chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip flow during medium-duty steel turning. Compatible with pin and screw holding methods, it meets both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. Machinists and CNC lathe operators working with P10 and P20 steel grades will find this insert suited to general steel turning applications.
This insert is designed for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers where steel is the primary workpiece material. The AC8015P grade targets P10 and P20 steel classifications, making it appropriate for medium-roughing to semi-finishing passes. The neutral cutting direction supports use on both standard and Swiss-style turning setups where a non-handed insert is required. The Absotech Platinum CVD coating provides wear resistance suitable for continuous steel cutting at production feed rates.
Designed for use in WNMG-style insert toolholders that accept pin and screw clamping. Primary workpiece material is steel (P-class: P10, P20). Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert size code 432 compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method — do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for damage before seating the new insert.
