The SUMITOMO 19T4335 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Manufactured from solid carbide and finished with Sumitomo's Absotech Platinum CVD coating, this insert is engineered for turning steel workpieces across P10 and P20 material grades. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a neutral cutting direction, and a negative rake angle of 7 degrees. The 0.5790-inch insert length and 1/2-inch inscribed circle make it a standard CNMG432 form-factor insert. The EGU chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during continuous and interrupted steel turning. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning steel components in production and job-shop environments. It is compatible with CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, pin-and-screw insert holding method. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing passes on carbon steel, alloy steel, and similar P-category ferrous workpieces. The Absotech Platinum CVD coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability during sustained cutting at moderate to high cutting speeds. Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, de-energized, and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key driver to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque when securing the clamping screw or pin. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before seating a new insert. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as this can cause unpredictable tool failure and workpiece damage.
