The SUMITOMO 19T3BPU is a solid carbide turning insert designated by ANSI code TCMT32.52ESU and manufacturer grade AC8035P. It features a CVD-applied Absotech Platinum coating engineered for extended tool life in steel-cutting applications. The insert has a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 0.6496-inch length, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The ESU chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle of 8 degrees promote efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Designed for CNC turning centers and lathes, this insert is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning operations on steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material grade designations P30 and P40. Its neutral cutting direction makes it appropriate for both right-hand and left-hand toolholders where the TCMT style is supported. The TC series designation and TCMT insert style are standard in CNC lathe applications requiring reliable, repeatable performance on ferrous materials. The ISO equivalent code is TCMT16T308N-SU, which may assist in cross-referencing with compatible toolholder systems.
Designed for use in TCMT-style toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with pin or screw holding. ANSI code TCMT32.52ESU and ISO code TCMT16T308N-SU may be used to verify toolholder compatibility. Intended for steel workpieces in the P30 and P40 material grade range.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket seating faces before engaging the clamping pin or screw. Inspect the pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris before each insert change. Follow toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw to avoid insert cracking or improper seating.
