Product Description

The SUMITOMO 19RJW5N is a solid carbide coated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. Conforming to ANSI insert code DCMT32.51 and ISO code DCMT11T304, it features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance. The CVD-coated AC820P grade delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it well suited for finishing operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. An inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and a corner radius of 0.016 inches support tight tolerances in light-to-moderate depth-of-cut applications. Installed via screw-holding method, this insert is a standard choice for machinists running finishing passes on P- and K-category materials.

This insert is intended for finishing-grade turning applications on steel and cast iron. The ENK chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation at finishing feed rates and depths. Typical applications include OD turning on CNC turning centers and engine lathes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the primary objectives. The neutral hand configuration allows flexible deployment across standard DCMT-compatible toolholders.

Key Features

  • CVD-coated AC820P carbide grade for high wear resistance on steel (P) and cast iron (K) workpiece materials
  • 55-degree diamond insert shape (DCMT) with positive rake and positive side clearance for efficient chip flow
  • ENK chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing operations
  • Screw-holding retention method compatible with standard DCMT insert seats
  • Neutral hand orientation for versatile toolholder compatibility
  • Meets ANSI and ISO 13399 standards; material grades C5A, C6, C7, C8

Compatibility

Designed for use in DCMT-compatible screw-on toolholders accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder pocket tolerance code M and clearance code C before installation.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seat and screw threads for debris or wear before installation. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for finishing-grade inserts, as overloading can cause premature edge failure.
