The SUMITOMO 19RJBUT is a TPMT-style solid carbide turning insert with AC820P grade and a CVD-applied aluminum oxide (Al2O3) coating. Designed for steel turning applications, this triangular insert features a positive rake geometry at 12 degrees and a neutral hand orientation. The 0.25-inch inscribed circle and 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius make it well-suited for finish and semi-finish turning passes where edge sharpness and dimensional consistency matter. A screw-hole clamping method with a 0.110-inch hole diameter provides secure indexing in compatible toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is intended for turning steel workpieces in production and job-shop environments. The ELU chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation on low-to-medium feed rates typically encountered in finish turning. With a 60-degree triangle shape, each insert provides up to six usable cutting edges when indexed properly. The ANSI code TPMT222ELU and ISO code TPMT110308N-LU allow cross-referencing with standard toolholder catalogs for direct drop-in tooling setups on CNC and manual lathes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for TPMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, 1/8-inch thick triangular insert with a P clearance and M tolerance class per ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert edge.
