The SUMITOMO 19RJAPK is a solid carbide coated turning insert with ANSI code DNMG431 and ISO code DNMG150404, designed for precision turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a CVD-applied coating under the AC820P grade. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.0156 inch corner radius, and a 0.6102 inch insert length, it is engineered for finishing and light machining passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish quality are critical. Machinists and CNC programmers working in steel and cast iron applications will find this insert suited to high to moderate wear-resistance demands.
The 19RJAPK is intended for turning steel and cast iron workpieces across general-purpose and production machining environments. Its ESU chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining operations, generating controlled chip flow at moderate cutting parameters. The AC820P grade falls within material grade classifications C5A, C6, C7, and C8, making it applicable to both P-class steel and K-class cast iron materials per ISO workpiece material coding. This insert is used primarily in metalworking shops, job shops, and production turning cells by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders that accept a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch insert thickness, and a 0.203 inch hole diameter, using clamp or pin holding methods. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clearance code N before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's seating and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert to maintain proper geometry and prevent premature edge failure. Do not overtighten clamping screws beyond the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure.
