The SUMITOMO 19RJANG is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with an Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) coating applied via CVD process. Carrying the AC820P manufacturer grade, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a negative rake angle of 15 degrees, and a neutral hand orientation. It measures 0.6339 inches in length with a 5/8-inch (0.6250-inch) inscribed circle, a 1/4-inch insert thickness, and a 3/64-inch (0.0469-inch) corner radius. The EMX chip breaker geometry is designed to control chip flow during turning operations. Machinists and CNC turning specialists working in production or job-shop environments install this insert into compatible toolholders for external turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning operations on steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material classification P and material grades C5A, C6, C7, and C8. The CNMG form factor and standard ANSI/ISO geometry make it applicable to a wide range of CNC lathes and turning centers where CNMG543 toolholders with clamp-and-pin holding methods are used. The CVD Al2O3 coating provides thermal resistance and wear resistance during continuous and interrupted steel cutting at moderate to high cutting speeds. It conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, with the ISO designation CNMG160612N-MX.
Designed for use in CNMG543-compatible toolholders that accept clamp-and-pin insert retention. Primary workpiece material classification is steel (ISO P); material grades C5A, C6, C7, and C8 are applicable. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 insert standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard indexable insert seating procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and insert seat are clean and free of chips before seating the insert, and verify clamp and pin retention are fully engaged before resuming cutting operations. Do not exceed the toolholder or machine manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for this insert geometry and grade.
