The SUMITOMO 19RJALG is a solid carbide coated turning insert designed for use in CNC and manual lathe turning operations. Carrying the ANSI designation TNMG544EMU and ISO code TNMG270616N-MU, this insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake geometry. It is manufactured to grade AC820P with a CVD coating process, making it suitable for demanding material removal on steel and other workpiece categories. The inscribed circle measures 5/8 inches, overall insert length is 1.0827 inches, insert thickness is 1/4 inch, and the corner radius is 1/16 inch. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of a clamp-and-pin holding system.
This insert is suited for turning operations on primary workpiece materials designated as M and P classifications, with steel identified as the secondary workpiece material. The EMU chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during medium to general-purpose turning passes. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing cuts on steel components in production machining environments. The AC820P grade and CVD coating provide thermal resistance and edge durability suited to consistent interrupted and continuous cuts.
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders that accept a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, 1/4-inch thick triangular insert with a clamp and pin holding method, compatible with Series TN tooling systems. Suitable for workpiece material groups M and P per ISO classification, with steel as the primary target material.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw or pin to ensure proper support and edge engagement. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as a damaged pocket will affect cutting performance and edge life.
