The SUMITOMO 19RJAFI is a solid carbide CVD-coated turning insert in the CNMG432EMU geometry, manufactured to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. It carries the AC820P grade designation and features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake angle. The 1/2-inch inscribed circle and 0.0313-inch corner radius make this a versatile choice for medium to finishing turning operations. The EMU chip breaker geometry and CVD coating process are engineered to maintain edge integrity across a range of cutting conditions in steel and stainless steel applications. Installed by machinists and CNC turning professionals, this insert is suited for production environments requiring consistent tool life and predictable chip control.
This insert is designed for turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P and M. The AC820P grade with CVD coating is well-matched to continuous and mildly interrupted cutting passes on CNC lathes and turning centers. The CNMG geometry is compatible with standard negative-rake CNMG toolholders using clamp and pin holding methods. The EMU chip breaker profile supports a broad range of depths of cut and feed rates commonly encountered in general-purpose turning of ferrous alloys.
Designed for use with standard negative-rake CNMG turning toolholders utilizing clamp and pin clamping methods. Compatible workpiece materials include steel and stainless steel per ISO material codes P and M. Material grades C5A, C6, C7, and C8 apply per ANSI classification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing the new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque procedure for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate.
