Product Description

The SUMITOMO 19RJ335 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with Absotech CVD coating in the AC820P grade. It features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a clearance code of N with tolerance code M. The 0.5079-inch insert length and 0.5-inch inscribed circle make it suited for medium-to-finish turning passes. The EGU chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip formation across a range of depths of cut and feed rates. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC turning specialists on lathes and turning centers running steel and stainless workpiece materials.

The 19RJ335 is designed for primary use on ISO material groups M (stainless steel) and P (steel), covering a broad range of ferrous turning applications. It fits toolholders accepting CNMG 432 inserts with clamp-and-pin holding methods. The AC820P grade with CVD Absotech coating delivers thermal resistance and wear performance suited to continuous and mildly interrupted cuts on steel components. Typical applications include OD turning of shafts, flanges, and bore-adjacent features on CNC lathes in job shop and production environments.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate with AC820P Absotech CVD coating for extended wear resistance on steel and stainless
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape (CNMG) with neutral hand for versatile toolholder compatibility
  • EGU chip breaker geometry for controlled chip formation across varied feed and depth-of-cut conditions
  • 0.0313-inch (1/32 inch) corner radius balances edge strength and surface finish requirements
  • Clamp-and-pin holding method for secure seating and repeatable insert indexing
  • Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards; ISO code CNMG120408N-GU

Compatibility

Designed to fit CNMG 432 toolholders using clamp-and-pin insert retention. Compatible with material grades C5A, C6, C7, and C8 applications. Confirmed for primary workpiece materials in ISO groups M (stainless steel) and P (steel). ANSI code CNMG432EGU; ISO code CNMG120408N-GU.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolsetter. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure. Inspect the insert pocket and locating pin for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
