The SUMITOMO 19RJ297 is a solid carbide CVD-coated turning insert in the VNMG332ENG geometry, manufactured to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake, negative side clearance configuration. The manufacturer grade is AC820P, engineered for high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness across steel and cast iron workpiece materials. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert length is 0.6535 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch). Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists use this insert for roughing and medium machining operations where consistent tool life under interrupted or continuous cuts is required.
This insert is suited for turning operations on steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K) in both roughing and medium machining applications. The ENG chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across a range of depths of cut and feed rates typical in production turning centers. The ANSI insert code is VNMG332 and the ISO equivalent is VNMG160408 (ISO code VNMG160408N-UG). It is held in the tool body by clamp or pin methods and is compatible with standard VNMG-style turning toolholders. Material grades C5A, C6, C7, and C8 apply.
Designed for use in standard VNMG-style turning toolholders accepting a 332 ANSI size code insert. Compatible with toolholders rated for clamp or pin holding methods. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and cast iron (K).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw, and confirm insert seating before resuming cutting operations.
