The SUMITOMO 19RBW1J is a solid carbide coated turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries ANSI insert code CCMT32.51 and ISO code CCMT09T304, with a manufacturer grade of AC830P applied via CVD coating process. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake geometry, and a 7-degree relief angle, making it well-suited for light, accurate cuts with consistent chip control. The ENK chip breaker geometry is engineered for finishing passes, producing predictable chip flow and tight surface finish tolerances across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for finishing operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The AC830P grade provides moderate wear resistance and toughness, performing effectively across both P-class (carbon and alloy steels) and M-class (stainless steel) material categories. It is suited for use in production turning environments where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 5/32-inch insert thickness. Compatible with toolholder systems specified for ANSI size code 32.51 or ISO size code 09T304.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout state before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method without over-torquing the insert seat. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination can affect insert stability and dimensional repeatability. Follow your facility's tooling change procedures and applicable machine guarding requirements during all insert handling.
