The SUMITOMO 19RB796 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries the ANSI designation CNMG432ENG and is manufactured in grade AC830P with a CVD-applied Absotech coating for extended tool life and thermal resistance. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. With an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches and an insert length of 0.5079 inches, it is suited for medium to finish turning passes on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Installation is performed by qualified machinists and tooling technicians.
This insert is intended for turning operations on ferrous and universal workpiece materials, including steel (P) and stainless steel (M) classifications per ISO material coding. The ENG chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation across a range of cutting conditions, making it a practical choice for both roughing passes and moderate finishing work. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, appropriate for shop floor replenishment and tooling crib stocking.
Designed to seat in CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp and pin holding. Compatible with material grades C5, C5A, and C6. Primary workpiece material classifications are P (steel) and M (stainless steel), with secondary universal application per manufacturer specification.
Insert seating and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines for CNMG-style clamp and pin systems. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker condition at each index interval to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
